Jake Schuknecht

Date of birth: January 31, 1992

Hometown: Chesley, Ontario

Current Club: Chesley LBC

Canadian National Team debut: Tiger Bowls 2011

International Appearances: 1

National Playing Achievements: Under 18s Gold in 2008 and 2010

Type of Bowl: Taylor Spectrum

Favorite tournament and why: WOBA because it’s a week of great competition at a relaxed pace and offers good money for those who want to take it seriously.

How did you start playing bowls: Parents started and I had to go down to watch, so I decided I might as well bowl since I was down there anyways.

When did you start playing bowls: 2002

Who is your greatest influence in bowls: My Dad

Best player you have competed against and why: Ryan Bester, since he is the most renowned international bowler from Canada. The amount of practice he puts in is unreal. When I was in grade school, my school was next to the greens, so at recess I would go and watch him practice. Thing of beauty.

Aspirations beyond bowls: Going to university for Computer Science. Hopefully become a computer programmer, and maybe get a job at Google/RIM/Facebook, companies like that.

Who is the greatest influence in your life: Can’t say I really have one. I look around at everyone and see what I do and don’t want to be like. One person who has a lot of great attributes though is my friend Stirling. She tends to not let anything bother her, and smiles and laughs at everything, no matter how serious. I find that a great way to look at life, with a smile and a laugh.
